Excitement Grows as LBCT Prepares for readyAGS Pilot!

CHARLOTTE, NC — February 6, 2017 — NASCENT Technology, a leading provider of gate automation and related technologies, has announced that readyAGS, the company’s driver-centric mobile application, will be piloted at Long Beach Container Terminal (LBCT) later this month. In this first phase of the implementation, readyAGS is expected to help truckers at the gate by providing relevant routing and directional information on their mobile phones. It is expected that LBCT will adopt additional functionality and expand its rollout of readyAGS in the coming months.

readyAGS is a cloud-based system featuring a mobile application that helps ease traffic congestion at the gate, reduces wait time, and facilitates the flow of information in real time. According to Anthony Otto, president of Long Beach Container Terminal, “the introduction of readyAGS will further enhance what has already become the most efficient gate process in the nation.”

readyAGS has continually gained traction and momentum from both independent, as well as fleet carriers since it was announced in 2011. Serving as a flexible “conduit” for information between carriers and terminals, the readyAGS platform provides a myriad of possibilities for exchanging data and streamlining processes.

NASCENT’s CTO, Scott Urban, said: “While one of the short-term goals was to virtualize the gate experience for truckers, we are finding new ways, everyday, to leverage the readyAGS infrastructure and streamline other terminal processes. The fact that a growing number of drivers already have the mobile app installed certainly helps.”

NASCENT’s readyAGS Grows through Acquisition of SmartTrack Logistics

CHARLOTTE, NC -- November 28, 2016 -- NASCENT Technology, LLC, a leading provider of gate automation and related technologies, announced that it has acquired Smart Track Logistics, a Jacksonville, FL - based provider of cloud-based solutions for supply chain management, freight planning, and scheduling.  The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“Through its innovative Nimbus Connect product offering, Smart Track has captured a segment of the warehousing and distribution market that has been largely ignored.  The enterprise-class solution is designed and priced for smaller to mid-size operations and, therefore, appeals to a growing number of businesses who are in need of a way to better manage their link within the supply-chain,” said Michael Bratt, Chief Operating Officer of NASCENT Technology, LLC.  “As we look for opportunities to expand our offerings in cost-effective cloud-based technologies for logistics and supply chain management, acquisitions like this one just make sense.”

Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, Smart Track provides cloud-based software and solutions for freight planning and scheduling, transportation tracking, and inbound and outbound dock management.  The target markets and core set of features of the company’s flagship software aligns well with those of NASCENT’s existing readyAGS product.

While readyAGS has continually gained traction and momentum since it was announced in 2011, NASCENT company executives believe that the acquisition will help bolster its adoption, especially among distribution centers, BCO’s (Beneficial Cargo Owners), and warehouses, in the months following the acquisition.

“In addition to benefitting from an immediate gain of additional customers, we see this is an opportunity to expand the readyAGS offering and to provide greater value to existing accounts,” said Bratt.  “In a mobile-app-crazed environment where there are too many short-lived, ’one-hit wonders’, we strive to differentiate ourselves through offering well thought-out, comprehensive solutions.  Combining the strengths of SmartTrack’s Nimbus Connect product with the existing capabilities of readyAGS will help us do just that.”

NASCENT Technology, LLC. and Long Beach Container Terminal Cut Truck Turn Times in Half With Automated Gate System

CHARLOTTE, NC—June 28, 2016—NASCENT Technology, LLC has helped Long Beach Container Terminal (LBCT) automate its marine terminal, resulting in a dramatic reduction in truck turn times. NASCENT, the pioneer of the first remotely operated gate, has been customizing scalable technologies that integrate with various operating systems for more than 20 years. Their SYNAPSE AGS leads the industry in automated gate solutions.

LBCT has spent millions of dollars to automate its entire 342-acre facility. Through its partnership with NASCENT, the marine terminal complex has cut its average truck visit times in half, reducing wait times from 85 minutes to 40 minutes on the average.

“This is more than just a gate system,” says Matt Hunnicutt, IT Director, Long Beach Container Terminal, “It is the key to the process of moving containers.” He continued, “Everything is about turn times for truckers and this system is the basis to shorten that.”

Fabio Teti, President and CEO of NASCENT, said, “LBCT exemplifies just how much can be accomplished through the thoughtful application of innovation and technology across a broad spectrum of industries. While some of the technology may exist in pieces in the world, it is only through careful planning, pure ingenuity, and a high level of coordination that all of the disparate parts can be pulled together to work in a unified manner. The outcome is obvious and nothing short of spectacular. The LBCT team must be commended for creating the vision and, through sheer will and determination, making it a reality.”

NASCENT’s SYNAPSE AGS is designed to integrate with any Terminal Operating System (TOS) as well as appointment systems, billing systems and security applications. This flexibility allows customers like LBCT to migrate, integrate or expand without worrying about software obsolescence. It also enables security, financial and clerical workers at LBCT to function without crossover, eliminating duplicate work and additional checkpoints.

The automated system is more efficient in every way.

It gives LBCT the ability to control the number of trucks at each lane as well as en route to each lane and to direct trucks to the next available lane, minimizing wait time, avoiding hassles and maximizing profits.
By integrating SYNAPSE AGS kiosks and software with LBCT’s TOS Adaptor, LBCT and NASCENT also prevent lane closures. When no lane is available, trucks are simply directed to a staging area and alerted as soon as a space becomes available. It’s here that truckers also receive real-time notice of their next in-yard instruction. The entire system is paperless, allowing for a more environmentally conscious footprint.

“With all we have done, the world sees this as a gate,” says Anthony Otto, President of LBCT, “We are very pleased with the performance of our gate solution. It has been a real bright spot in our project.”
Teti agreed, “Everyone at NASCENT is certainly proud to be a part of the success at LBCT. The project’s focus on automation and technology provided us the opportunity to flex our innovation muscles and to leverage the 20+ years of experience that we have in gate automation, engineering and systems integration.”

The first portion of the LBCT automation, including vessel, yard, gate and on-dock rail operations, has been completed. Additional yard and gate areas are planned with a target completion date of 2019.

NASCENT Technology delivers 1000th AGS Kiosk to Norfolk Southern

NS accepting 1000th AGS Kiosk Plaque

Charlotte, NC -- December 15, 2014 -- NASCENT  Technology (NASCENT), the leading technology solutions provider to the Intermodal Transportation Industry, has announced that it has delivered its 1000th Automated Gate System (AGS) Kiosk to Norfolk Southern Railway (''NS'') for immediate installation at Norfolk Southern’s Charlotte, NC  Intermodal facility.

During a ceremony at NASCENT's Charlotte Headquarters on Friday, December 5, 2014, Fabio Teti, NASCENT President and CEO presented the kiosk to Norfolk Southern.  “We’re honored today to be handing off our 1000th AGS kiosk to NS.  NS presented us with our first railroad opportunity in 2002, and we’ve enjoyed a long and mutually rewarding relationship since then,” stated Teti.  “Not only does this mark a tremendous milestone for our company, but having the kiosk so close to our corporate headquarters will act as a constant reminder of the advances we’ve been able to accomplish over the years.  Intermodal transportation is a vital part of our country’s economy and a cornerstone of consumer goods traffic.  I’m privileged to say that NASCENT has played a pivotal role in advancing the performance of Intermodal operations and that we’ll continue to work with forward-thinking companies like NS to effect continuous improvement throughout the industry,” added Teti.

James Shondel accepting Remprex Plaque

Commemorative plaques were presented to NS and Remprex.  Remprex, LLC is one of NASCENT’s Value Added Resellers for the rail industry, and Remprex  obtained and fulfilled the NS AGS order and is presiding over the AGS installation of the NS Charlotte facility.

James Shondel accepting Jimmy plaque
Shortly after presenting the commemorative plaques, during a very moving part of the ceremony, Fabio Teti explained the reasoning behind the 1000th AGS kiosk nickname, “Jimmy”.  “We wanted to honor a person that was an industry pioneer, a colleague, and a friend.,” “We’ve named this important kiosk Jimmy in memory of James Z. Peepas; the man that introduced us to NS and the railroad part of the industry.  He was relentless in his pursuit of a working NS-NASCENT relationship.  Unfortunately, he passed away before he had a chance to see his vision become reality”, concluded Teti.  A crystal commemorative plaque engraved with the words, “Dedicated in honor of James Z. Peepas, an Intermodal Industry Pioneer.  His tireless dedication to improving the intermodal industry resulted in the introduction of NASCENT to the railroad sector” was presented to Mr. James Shondel, grandson of James Peepas and CEO of Remprex, who received it on behalf of his grandfather.

NASCENT Technology declares 1000th AGS Kiosk, 'ready for delivery'

Charlotte, NC October 23, 2014--  NASCENT Technology (NASCENT), the leading technology solutions provider to the Intermodal Transportation Industry, has announced that it has completed assembly of its 1000th Automated Gate System (AGS) Kiosk.

“This milestone represents yet another leg in our journey to improve Intermodal transportation and the flow of commerce as a whole”, stated Fabio Teti, NASCENT President and CEO during a company ceremony celebrating the completion of the 1000th Kiosk.  “I’m especially excited to say that this kiosk will be delivered to Norfolk Southern’s Intermodal Facility right here in Charlotte, North Carolina”, added Teti.

The kiosk, nicknamed, “Jimmy”, is branded with a special, decorative, 1000th kiosk banner, and was signed by every NASCENT employee during the celebration.  “We’re probably the best kept secret in Charlotte” said Nigel Davis, NASCENT Vice President of Product Operations.  “This kiosk, as with all our products, is designed, manufactured, and assembled with a lot of pride.  It isn’t often that our folks get to be recognized outside these walls.  I’m glad they’re getting a chance to celebrate their hard work” concluded Davis.

The formal dedication will be held later in the year to coincide with its delivery to the Norfolk Southern facility.  “The production of this kiosk and its recipient are important to NASCENT for statistical as well as sentimental reasons.  Obviously, manufacturing and selling 1000 kiosks is significant by any metric, but Norfolk Southern was our first railroad client and it’s only fitting that ‘Jimmy’ be delivered to a Norfolk Southern facility.  The fact that it’ll be delivered to a facility so close to us, is just an added bonus”, said Dave Lambacher, NASCENT Vice President of Business Development.

As ConneXions event draws near, NASCENT Technology announces better than expected third quarter earnings

Charlotte, NC October 9, 2012-- NASCENT Technology (NASCENT), the leading technology solutions provider to the Intermodal Transportation Industry, has announced that it expects third quarter earnings to exceed expectations.

"North American intermodal rail traffic continues to be robust and demand for our Automated Gate System (AGS) solutions remains strong through the remainder of the year," said Fabio Teti, NASCENT President and CEO. "On the port side, we’re delighted to have been awarded AGS deployments at four major shipping terminals in North and South America.  We believe that the improvement in traffic coupled with the decision by the ILA and USMX to extend their negotiations signal a cautiously optimistic outlook for 2013.  Heading into the fourth quarter, we’re enthusiastic about our solutions and confident in our ability to enhance our clients' productivity by improving throughput, safety, and security at their facilities.  In summary, I'm grateful to report that the outlook for the fourth quarter remains solid," added Mr. Teti.

NASCENT expects to deliver and deploy more of its SYNAPSE™ AGS G6 Kiosks in the upcoming months than any prior NASCENT kiosk deployed in the previous fifteen years of operation combined.

"Anytime a company posts positive results prior to a product launch event, its invigorating," stated Dave Lambacher, NASCENT Business Development Manager.  "We're expecting a great customer turnout for ConneXions this year and I’m certain that the solutions we’ll be discussing will be positively received for deployments in 2013,” continued Lambacher.

"At this year's ConneXions, we decided to add break-out sessions that allow our customers, and other guests to hear and discuss current technology innovations, operational best practices, and potential solutions to current issues of our industry.  Based on the topics and attendees, I expect lively conversation and a genuine exchange of ideas," said Lynda Parillo, NASCENT Project Director.
"We're grateful for a successful quarter, excited about the opportunities ahead, and eager to meet with industry leaders at our product launch," concluded Teti.
